Martijn Roessingh, The Netherlands, works for daily newspaper Trouw. He was trained as a human geographer and wrote a PhD on ethnic conflicts in Europe.
Roessingh turned to journalism in 1995, working for Radio Netherlands Worldwide and for Trouw. He specialized in foreign news, writing on Eastern Europe, the former Soviet Union, Eastern Asia and international diplomacy.
As an investigative journalist, he did research on human trafficking in the Netherlands and on China’s population policy.
Roessingh has participated in numerous ICIJ projects, including the multi-award winning Panama Papers. Together with Dutch and Belgian colleagues, he won the Dutch-Flemish award for investigative research done during Lux Leaks and Paradise Papers.
