Ignace Sossou, Benin, is an investigative journalist.
A financial manager by training, he hung up his career in 2015 to devote himself to his passion: investigative journalism. In 2016, he took a training course at Benin’s International School of Strategy Detective (EIDS) to hone his investigative skills.
In 2018 and 2019, Sossou published a series of surveys on illicit financial flows and tax evasion in Benin. His publications have earned him legal action and jail time. In December 2019, Sossou was arrested and imprisoned for having relayed the very critical comments on Beninese laws made by the prosecutor of the Cotonou Court. He was released in June 2020 after six months of detention.
