Jet Schouten, The Netherlands, works as an investigative journalist for NRC. Prior to NRC, she worked for the Dutch Public Broadcasting Company AVROTROS.
She was at the origin of the Implant Files, a worldwide investigation on medical devices published in November 2018 by over 250 journalists in 36 countries. She contributed to articles published by ICIJ and outlets such as the Dutch daily Trouw, Le Monde, the Süddeutsche Zeitung, and the British Medical Journal.
Her work on implants was cited in numerous media around the world.
In 2019, Jet and her Trouw colleague Joop Bouma were named the Netherlands ‘Journalists of the Year 2018’ for their work on the Implant Files. In 2015, Jet received the award for Investigative journalist of the year by the Association of Investigative Journalists of Belgium and the Netherlands (VVOJ) for the TV documentary All Meshed Up.
