Malia Politzer, Spain, is an award-winning investigative journalist with more than a decade of experience working on collaborative, cross-border investigations. She has reported from more than 15 countries and joined Finance Uncovered in April 2022.
Subjects investigated include how relics looted from Cambodian temples ended up in offshore trusts and some of the world’s most prominent art museums; the international businesses and mafias profiting off refugees in four different countries; the institutional barriers blocking African LGBT asylum-seekers from finding safe haven in Europe; and abuses in international clinical trials in India, to name only a few.
In 2021, Politzer was on the core team of the International Consortium of Investigative Journalists’ Pandora Papers investigation, and in 2017 was the recipient of a National Magazine Award. Her international reporting has also received recognition from the Society of Publishers in Asia, the American Society of News Editors, the Overseas Press Club, and the Arizona Press Club, among others.
Based in Spain, Politzer speaks fluent Spanish, and once spoke decent Mandarin and Hindi. She is learning French.
