Elaine Díaz Rodríguez, Cuba, is a journalist and Editor-in-Chief at Periodismo de Barrio.
A 2008 journalism graduate from the School of Communication at the University of Havana, she also received a masters in communication from the same school in 2014.
From 2008 to 2015, she was assistant professor of hypermedia communication, technology, and society at the University of Havana. She worked for the Inter Press Service news agency in Havana between 2011 and 2013.
In 2014-2015, Díaz Rodríguez became the first Cuban to win a prestigious Nieman Foundation for Journalism fellowship at Harvard University, after which she returned to Cuba to found Periodismo de Barrio, an investigative reporting project devoted principally to covering issues in Cuban society pertaining to the environment and sustainable development.
