Francisca Skoknic, Chile, is the editor and one of the creators of LaBot, a journalism platform that includes a news chatbot, a newsletter and investigative reporting.
She is the former director of the Diego Portales University's journalism school and prior to that was the deputy director of CIPER, a Chilean center for investigative journalism.
Before joining CIPER, she worked for several publications in Chile covering politics, economics and social issues.
Skoknic was awarded the 2008 Excellence in Journalism Award from Universidad Alberto Hurtado in Chile (with Cristóbal Peña and Mónica González) for a story that revealed the fraud behind an $80 million civil registry contract.
She also was awarded the 2018 Excellence in Digital Journalism Award (with Andrea Insunza and Paula Molina) for @RobotLabot's coverage of the 2017 elections.
She holds a master's degree in public administration from Columbia University, where she concentrated on economic and political development and specialized in international media.
