Leonarda Reyes, Mexico, is the Executive Director of the Center for Journalism and Public Ethics (CEPET) in Mexico, a nonprofit organization she founded to promote journalism in the country after seven decades of a single-party dictatorship rule and censorship.
She started her journalism career with newspaper el Norte, in the northern city of Monterrey, which is the parent company for the now-national newspaper Reforma. Reyes covered topics from national politics to international affairs and was eventually appointed national assignment editor. After eleven years with el Norte-Reforma, she went to work as managing editor for national news with TV Azteca before she founded CEPET which she combines with freelance journalism. She is a former Knight Fellow at Stanford University and is fluent in English and Italian.
