Pierre Romera Zhang is ICIJ’s Chief Technology Officer.

He leads a team responsible for developing platforms that have empowered hundreds of journalists to collaborate on major investigations like the Pandora Papers, the Uber Files, the FinCEN Files, and the Panama Papers. Under his leadership, ICIJ has become one of the top journalism organizations in the world for leveraging technology in investigative reporting.

Before joining ICIJ, Pierre was the Chief Technology Officer and co-founder of Journalism++, an award-winning organization that led major investigations in Europe. Pierre and his team created data visualizations, interactive stories and tools in partnership with large media outlets such as AFP, France Télévision, ARTE, Wikileaks and Google. Their project, The Migrants' Files, won several prestigious prizes, including the European Press Prize.

He was also a data journalism pioneer in France at OWNI, where part of his work was awarded an ONA prize in 2010. A self-taught programmer and journalist, he took part in thousands of open source projects and animated more than 1000 hours of training courses.
